New iphone and Count of Monte Cristo

So I have had the good fortune of exploring all the different applications on the iPhone since Rico and I were able to switch phones for the summer. As some of you probably know, I am slow with technology but am getting better. Anyways, the app I have enjoyed the best by far is "masterpieces" because it has classic works accessible to you such as the Sherlock Holmes books, works by Twain, Wells, Verne, London etc. It has always been a goal of mine to read the Count of Monte Cristo which is also on this app and let me tell you in terms of fiction it is the most enjoyable book I have ever read. It is sooooooo long which is definitely a drawback but it appeals to everything that I love (I realized this when discussing the book with a friend of Goo's at the LA YSA film festival last night). It has moments of witty fun and quick dialogue a la Jane Austen, it has swashbucklingin' fight scenes, great moments of insightful philosophical musings which the French love so much and which I began to appreciate in undergrad, it has rich character development as you see Edmond Dantes be transformed from an excellent man of virtue to a man bent on the ddeconstruction of natural justice only to be moved by the actions and virtues of others that he did not anticipate as he pursues his revenge against those who destroyed him. In a word it is very very very good and having it so readily accessible on the iphone is nice. The only drawback is that now I appear as one of those tools who I always made fun of constantly on their iphone playing games or texting or whatever. No joke every spare chance I get I am trying to finish the giant book that is the Count of monte cristo right now I am only about half way through and I'm reading almost every spare possible moment. Anyways, hopefully I will be over soon and then I will be able to exercise a little more self-control.
